Doctors rush to save young stonemason after 300kg concrete slab lands on his head in new season of Emergency

During tonight's episode of Emergency, doctors will be faced with a shocking accident involving a 29-year-old stonemason named Michael.
The documentary series gives viewers a raw and candid glimpse into the lives of hero doctors and nurses working in the emergency room at The Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Ahead of the episode, we're revealing some of Michael's story and the accident that saw doctors race to save his life.

Michael was crushed by a 300kg cement block, leaving him in excruciating pain and rapidly losing consciousness.

Paramedics swiftly assessed his condition and saw the urgency of the situation.
Dr. Glenn Harrison, an experienced Emergency Physician, stepped in to provide crucial insights into the severity of Michael's injuries.
He said: "This is a 29-year-old male who's got a severe head injury.
"He may well have skull and facial fractures amongst spinal fractures as well. The risk is that he has severe bleeding on the brain."
Michael's head inuries could prove life-changing, and there was a pressing concern about internal injuries.
"I'm just worried that he might have severe complications, including seizures and increased swelling on the brain," explained Dr Harrison.
"The warning would be if there's abnormal pupil size on one side; that is a big warning sign for us, and he would need to have urgent neurosurgery."
With Michael's life on the line, medical professionals worked against the clock tirelessly to stabilise him.
