The best printers on the market to suit every home office

9PR: The best printers on the market to suit your home office

Despite many areas of our day-to-day lives turning digital, printers still have a use in the office and workplace. If you're upgrading your home office or replacing your tired printer with something to get the job done faster, you'll be happy to know that there are many options on offer, at decent price points.

Different types of printers on the market

There are many different types of printers to choose from, with the most common options being inkjet, laser, refillable and all-in-one:

  • Inkjet printers are the traditional printers that use ink cartridges that require replacing once they empty.
  • Laser printers are suited for bulk printing jobs. Instead of using ink, it prints using toner powder.
  • Continuous ink or refillable ink printers let you refill the ink instead of buying and replacing the whole ink cartridge.
  • All-in-one printers, as the name suggests, can do it all, including scanning and faxing.

What to look for when buying a printer

With all these options, there are a few things you need to consider before buying – what will you be using it for, mainly? Do you need to scan? Are you eco-conscious? Where in your house will it live? Is connectivity a priority?

Another factor is price, and when it comes to printers you tend to get what you pay for.

Printer quality is determined through its resolution level, which is measured through dots per inch (DPI). If you are printing photos or images, or you want your documents printed at a high quality a higher DPI is recommended.

With all this in mind, we've worked out the best printers for different purposes, sizes and types of printers to help you decide which one is right for you and your office.
