Babies and children born to soap characters don't stay young for long. Often they go from pre-teen to teen in the space of an episode. When that happens it's known as soap opera rapid ageing syndrome (SORAS), a term coined by Mimi Torchin, the former editor-in-chief of Soap Opera Weekly.
Days of Our Lives is no stranger to SORAS, having used the concept on at least 16 characters over the years.

Days SORASed not one, but five characters in 2015 in the lead up to the show's 50th anniversary celebrations.
"Young people are the life blood of any soap — especially ours as we head toward our 50th anniversary in November," Ken Corday, Days executive producer told TV Insider at the time.
"By aging these children into young adults, we're making them more relatable to our audience and more dramatically exciting. These are not ancillary characters, but young leads. None of them will be a goody two-shoes. Each is somewhat flawed."
The newly-aged teen set included Theo, Claire, Chase, Ciara and Joey.
Theo was born in 2003 to Abe and Lexie, making him 12 when he was SORASed.
Claire was born to supercouple Shawn and Belle in 2005, so she was 10 when her age was changed.
Chase was Aiden's son and went to school with Ciara, so was likely the same age at the time of being SORASed.
Ciara was born on screen to supercouple Hope and Bo in 2007, making her eight when Days changed her to a teenager.
And Joey, another supercouple baby, was born to Steve and Kayla in 2008. That means Joey should have been seven in 2015.
Sami and her twin brother Eric were born on screen to Marlena and Roman in 1984. The character was rapidly aged to a teenager in 1993 when Alison Sweeney took on the role, despite Sami technically only being nine-years-old.
Eric returned to Salem four years after Sami in 1997 as a teenager. At the time he was portrayed by Jensen Ackles. Greg Vaughn has played adult Eric since 2012.
Jennifer first appeared as a baby on Days in 1976. The character left Salem as a child in 1979, but when Jennifer returned in 1985 she was a teenager played by Melissa Reeves. If Days went by actual dates Jennifer should've only been about 11 at that time.
Jennifer's son JJ has also been SORASed. He was born on screen in 2004 but was aged to 17 years in 2013 when Casey Moss began playing the character.
Brady is the son of John Black and Isabella Toscano and was born in 1992. The character was sent to boarding school as a child but returned in 2000 as a college student. Technically, Brady would've been eight-years-old then.
After being SORASed Brady was played by Kyle Lowder but from 2008 the character has been played by Eric Martsolf.
Carrie is Roman and Anna's daughter and originally her birthdate was 1978. But years later when the character was SORASed her date of birth was revised to 1974.
Andrea Barber, best known for her role as Kimmy in Full House, originated the role before Christie Clark took over in 1986 when the actress was 12 years old.
Belle is the daughter of supercouple John and Marlena and born on screen in 1993. She was SORASed in 1999 when Kirsten Storms began playing teenage Belle, who should've been six years old.
Belle has been played by Martha Madison since 2004.
Allie is the latest Days character to be SORASed. She was born to Sami and Lucas in 2007, making her 13 years old now. But when Lindsay Arnold debuted in the role this year in episodes yet to air on 9Gem and 9Now, Allie looked much older than her real-time age.
EJ was born to Stefano and Susan in 1997. But in one of the most extreme SORAS cases Days has ever had, EJ was an adult when he returned to the show in 2006 played by James Scott.
Bizarrely EJ is supposed to be a similar age to his lover Sami, who was born in 1984 and a teenager in 1993.
The character of Hope has become synonymous with Kristian Alfonso — who has played the role for 37 years and recently announced her departure from the soap — but was originated by other actresses.
Hope was born on screen in 1974 to Doug Williams and Addie Horton. However from 1981 the character was a teenager played by Tammy Taylor. Hope went to boarding school and returned to Salem in 1983 with Alfonso in the role.
Nicholas was the adopted son of villain Vivian Alamain but was later revealed to be Carly's son. The character was a child when he first appeared in 1992 but in 1999 Nicholas returned to Days as an adult played by Victor Webster.
After his extreme SORASing, Nicholas became the lover of the much-older Kate. Nicholas left Salem when Kate rejected him.
