Samsung just dropped three brand-new smartphones! Here is everything you need to know

9PR: Samsung has just releases four brand new phones! Here is everything you need to know

It's always a good day when Samsung releases new tech.

On Friday, March 31, 2023, Samsung dropped the new smartphones joining their Galaxy A Series: the Galaxy A54, the Galaxy A34, and the Galaxy A14 5G.

While the Samsung Galaxy S23 range was only released in February this year, this announcement is just as exciting and won't make your wallet feel as light when you add it to cart.

Here's everything you need to know about the newest Samsung smartphones, their features, which one is best for you, and how to get the best deal.

How to purchase a Samsung Galaxy A Series smartphone

The new Samsung Galaxy A phones come in at a mid-tier price point for Samsung phones and smartphones, generally.

Prices range from $377 to $699 depending on model and size.

Samsung Galaxy A54

The Samsung Galaxy A54 is the highest model in the Galaxy A4 range. Available in 'awesome violet' and 'awesome graphite' colours, this model has a 6.4-inch display and a 120Hz refresh rate to reduce lag and optimise visual quality. It has three outer-facing cameras and one front-facing camera: a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 50MP main camera, a 5MP macro camera and a 32MP front camera.

Samsung Galaxy A34

Available in 'awesome graphite' and 'awesome lime', the Galaxy A34 has a 120Hz refresh rate and a 6.6-inch display. Three of the four cameras on the A34 are smaller than the A54, but keep the same 5MP macro camera for clear zooming.

The Samsung Galaxy A14 5G is a great entry-level phone for a reasonable price. It has a 6.6-inch display and 90Hz refresh rate, but only comes in black. The cameras are smaller on this model: a 2MP depth camera, a 50MP main camera, a 2MP macro camera and a 13MP front camera. Unlike the A54 and A34, this phone has smaller memory and limited photography settings.

Features in the newest Galaxy A Series smartphones

Battery

All three models on offer have a battery life to brag about. Each phone has a 5,000mAh battery. With a battery of this size, your phone will live, on average, up to two days. This is equivalent to 21 hours straight of video playtime.

Build and display

While the A54 has the smallest build of the three at 6.4-inches, its display makes up for it. Using a high-resolution AMOLED display, it's able to project clear imagery from the screen. It also has a refresh rate of 120Hz to avoid lag and slow performance. To break that down, Hz measures how many times an image can change on screen per second, which means the A54 has 120 new pictures refreshing on screen per second.

The A34 shares many of the same display features as the A54 such as an AMOLED display and 120Hz refresh rate, but this model measures 6.6-inches.

The A14 is also 6.6-inches but has an Infinity-V display to support the front camera and has a refresh rate of 90Hz.

Cameras

Following the lead of Samsung Galaxy S23, each of the new Galaxy A Series phones have four cameras. They also boast the floating camera feature, with the A54 looking the goods with its glass back finish and aluminium frame, just like the S23 range.

Photography

Both the A54 and A34 come with intuitive photo features to achieve pristine picture and video. Sharing the 'nightography' feature found in modern Samsung devices, you will be able to take clean and crisp images in any lighting setting.

Additionally, these phones come with a night mode setting. This is an AI feature that broadens the pixel size captured on your camera to draw in more light from your surroundings. As a result, images taken in low light settings won't appear as dark in the photo.

For cleaner and crisper videos, both phones are made using optical image stabilisation (OIS) and video digital image stabilisation (VDIS).

Samsung also delivers photo editing tools for the A54 and A34, that allows users to remove shadows and reflections from their images.

Vision Booster technology

Both the A54 and A34 come with Vision Booster technology. This feature will create greater screen visibility based on your lighting surrounds. For example, if you are coming from a bright space into a dark room, the phone will adjust the brightness being emitted from the screen to adapt to the room's lighting.

Memory

Both the A54 and A34 come with 6GB of memory while the A14 5G comes with 4GB. All three phones come with 128GB of storage as well as compatibility for 1TB of expandable storage with an optional microSD card.

Security

Cyber safety and security is a talking point at the moment for all tech brands, and something Samsung does not take lightly. With features like the Samsung Knox Security and their Private Share function, you'll have peace of mind as you go about your life on your phone. To top it off, these two phones come with four generations of OS upgrades and five years of security updates guaranteed.

For parents choosing this as a smartphone for their children, SamsungKids Mode provides a tweaked interface for ease of use and safety.
